FAQs on Transitioning from iStar PRO
We at NextGen Security are proud to be your trusted security integration provider. We’re here to support you and remain diligent in giving all of our known CCure 9000 users the heads up that Software House will cease to manufacture the iSTAR Pro family of access controllers this April. But, there’s no cause for concern. We are here to answer any and all questions you have about how to seamlessly and successfully segue to the next generation of new iSTAR Ultra SE controllers. Rest assured that they feature an identical hardware layout for the ACM I/O board, with identical connectors. And this means that current wiring layouts and designs do NOT have to be altered when upgrading to iSTAR Ultra SE!
We know you have questions – and we welcome them! We are at the ready to answer them and will be hosting a Webinar in early March (add your name to our announcement list) to address the major questions users may have.
We’ve presented here for you some of the most pressing questions to help alleviate your concerns and assure you that upgrading to iSTAR Ultra SE will be a very positive step forward.
Question #1) Will Software House continue to support aPC and iStar Pro Controllers?
Question #2) Why should I migrate today?
Answer: There are many reasons to migrate right away.
The most obvious being that the components required to manufacture iSTAR Pro door controllers are no longer available. So, the time to migrate to iSTAR Ultra SE controllers is definitely now! And NextGen is here to help. You can count on us for technical support; we’re here to help you keep your access control platform current and delivering optimum performance. And, iSTAR Ultra SE provides existing iSTAR Pro customers with an easy transition path, including upgrade kits and a database conversion services, making the upgrade super easy!
Question #3) What are some of the advantages of Ultras & new iStar Edge?
iSTAR Ultra SE comes complete with many advantages and is an ideal next-generation solution to replace iSTAR Pro legacy technology.
The iSTAR Ultra SE has the same capabilities as the iSTAR Pro when used in “Pro mode” and is compatible with C•CURE 800/8000 and C•CURE 9000.
In “Ultra mode,” advanced encryption and wireless lock support are enabled, allowing wireless locks to communicate with C•CURE 9000.
Additionally, iSTAR Ultra SE can manage up to 500,000 cardholders in local memory and is also available in wall-mount and rack mount configurations.
Check out all of these iSTAR Ultra SE features:
Dual GigE network ports, FIPS-level encryption, a hardened Linux OS, abundant storage capacity (2GB RAM, 16GB SD) and new firmware features that are already having an impact such as team-rule, expiring clearances and reader-to-panel encrypted communications. iSTAR Ultra SE also allows you to expand up to 32 readers per panel using IP-ACM Ethernet door modules and ASSA ABLOY Aperio or Schlage wireless locksets. All new Software House hardware products carry a five-year warranty from date of manufacture.
